MSP430F5438 errata ADC27 clarification

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5438A

Hi all,

In document slaz057m (MSP430F541xA,MSP430F543xA Device Errata Sheet) the workaround for bug ADC27 appears as a two bullet list with an 'OR' in the form:

  • Turn on the output of the internal voltage reference in order to increase the drive strength of the reference to the ADC_12 core

       or

  • Ensure f(ADC12CLK) < 2.7 MHz

At the time I interpreted the "or" to mean performing EITHER of bullet items would provide the workaround. In the latest slaz290a (MSP430F5438A Device Errata Sheet) the workaround for the same bug ADC12 now appears as a two numbered list, without an "OR" in the form:

  1. Turn on the output of the internal voltage reference in order to increase the drive strength of the reference to the ADC_12 core
  2. Ensure f(ADC12CLK) < 2.7 MHz

Q. Does the removal of the "or" now indicate that BOTH actions 1 and 2 have to be performed to provide the workaround?

It coul dbe just an enumeration of several possible workarounds.
The 'or' hasn't be replaced by an 'and'.

Reading the erratum description, the bug only appears when f(ADCCLK)>2.7MHz. So when it is lower, the erratum doesn't apply and no other fix is required :)
