Grace 2.0 Release

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE

I would like to announce that Grace 2.0 is now available.  This major update to the Grace product provides the same advantages to MSP430 developers as before: the ability to easily configure on-chip peripherals using the Grace graphical user interface and then using the tool to generate production-ready C source code that you can include in your project.  This new release of Grace extends the product with additional features, including:

  • Support for TI’s newer FRAM MSP430 devices, including the MSP430FR57xx, MSP430FR58xx and MSP430FR59xx.
  • A consolidated interrupt controller view for easier ISR management.
  • A Code Snippets feature that allows the insertion of stock source code into initialization code.
  • The ability to insert custom code into Grace-generated source code files.
  • An enhanced user interface and screen navigation features

To take advantage of this new release, follow these instructions:

  1. Download the newest release of Code Composer Studio v5.30 RC1 (release candidate).
  2. Install Code Composer Studio v5.30 RC1 (CCS) on your workstation, making sure you select MSP430Ware for installation.
  3. Start up CCS.
  4. Select Window->Preferences and then Install/Update->Available Software Sites.
  5. Select the Add… button.
  6. In the Name field, enter in any name for the Grace Update Site.
  7. In the Location field, enter in the following URL: http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/TargetContent/CCS530RC1 .
  8. Select the OK button.
  9. In CCS, select Help->Check for Updates
  10. In the resulting Available Updates window, make sure that Grace 2.0.0 and XDCTools 3.24.4 are selected (and you can deselect any other component updates for now).
  11. Click on the Next button.
  12. Review and confirm the updates and then click the Next button.
  13. Accept the terms of the license agreements and then click the Finish button.
  14. After the new components download
  15. Allow CCS to restart so that the new CCS plug-in components can proceed to install.
