lpm3,xt1lf with 1.8V

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5338

Hi,

I've working with MSP430F5338 with 1.8V supply voltage,8Mhz.

In datasheet, there is a suuply currents of pm3,xt1lf for 2.2V/3V,but there is no for 1.8V. The questions are:

 1) is it possible to set MSP430F5338 with 1.8V to lpm3?

 2) what about the supply currents at different temperature and wake up time from lpm3 with 1.8V?

Thanks,

    Yes.

The two voltages are typical ones (IIRC, 2.2V is minimum for using the internal 1.5V reference, also was minimum votage for flash programming on older MSPs)

You can draw a straight line through the two and get the currents for any voltage. (the line will not cross 0µA for 0Hz - Ram retention and other things require a base current)

For temperature, aren't there diagrams in the datasheet?

For the wakeup time, I also assume a more or less linear increase for decreasing voltage. CMOS circuits run faster on higher voltage, so the wakeup circuitry will likely do the same.

However, experience has shown that all teh calculation of minimum power consumption on this or that condition is void when the applicaiton actually has to do something else but sleeping. And usually, the coders have a serious problems to not put the MSP into the 'I do it all at once and consume highest current' mode.

Low power consumption is not a question of lowering voltage and switching on some LPM, but rather a problem of NOT switching on everything that's not absolutely needed. You cannot drive a car up a hill and at the same time switching off the engine for lowest gas consumption: you'll be successful with one of them only - if at all.
