Launchpad unrecognized

Hi,

my LaunchPad is no longer recognized by the PC. When i plug it in, it appears as an Unknown Device in the Device Manager with a hardware id "USB\DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE". I have tried 3 different cables and 2 different machines and all the possible ports. Every single time the device was not recognized. I can also see some corrosion damage around the USB port, but only at the casing ground solder points. Is there anything i can do or i can throw it away?

    So the PC recognizes a device but the device doesn't answer when asked for its ID.

    This leaves two likely reasons: First, the UCB controller on the LaunchPad is broken. Repair is more expensive than a new LaunchPad.
    Or second, the contacts are damaged. You noticed some corrosion. Maybe there's more that you didn't recognize. Careful cleaning might help. Or adjusting the contacts. The corrosion might be a sign of a shortcut due to bend contacts.
