Can't find .hex file

I'm trying to generate a .hex file with CCS 5.1 to download with  my MSP-FET-430UIF.  I followed the instructions here http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Generating_and_Loading_MSP430_Binary_Files

and everything appears to work, but I don't see a .hex file in the Debug directory.  Any suggestions?

  • OK, I found the problem.  I used a blank in my project name  The hex430 utility generated the file, but truncated the output file name at the blank and did not append .hex.  Took me way too much time to notice.

  • Yeah, the tools do not enclose 'special' names with double quotes, so if you pass a name wiht  ablank, the part behind the blank is interpreted as an option parameter (or ignored).

The tools are derived from Linux, where there were more strict requirements for filenames than what is allowed under WIndows UI. And most of them are commandline-called, even if you do not see it.
