Power Consumption of Audio Capacitive Touch BoosterPack (ACTBP)

Hello All,

Looked at the available docs and did a search here - but is there any information on the overall power consumption of the ACTBP?

TIA,
johnw

  • John,

I didn't find any specs myself either. But seeing as it is a reference design only, the actual current draw is going to be application dependent. There's a DSP, OLED, and other support circuitry. So the power consumption is likely to be several factors more than an MSP430.

WIthout knowing what the SW on the DSP will be doing (how fast, how computation intensive, % time in sleep, etc) there is going to be no one number to use.

I would recommend looking up the specs for the parts you will be using and putting together a power analysis spreadsheet to estimate current draw of each of the components in the mode you intend to use them. I know that TI has some power estimation tools for other DSPs (the C6000 family for instance) so that may be a starting place.

  • Brian,

Yeah, well - that's fine and dandy.

There's preloaded MP3 code on the DSP evidently - so the app is that.

So, TI - do you have any power consumption specs for the ACTBP?

    Thanks,
    johnw
