New to MSP430

Well, I ordered a couple samples of different MSP430s but I have come to realize that I'm really not sure where to start in order to use them...

This is the first project that I've done starting from scratch and I would really appreciate being pointed in the right direction!

I need to use the microcontroller to take readings from several gyroscopes and then display the readings on an LCD screen and a computer screen, which would be connected through USB.  So I also need to develop a very basic user interface that will take readings from the microcontroller.

I would like to get the MSP430 set up so we can hook it up to the computer to start programming it but don't know where to begin...

  • You've titled this thread, "New to MSP430"; but it rather sounds that you are new to any sort of microcontroller development - is that right?

If you've literally just ordered MSP430s - ie, bare chips - then the first thing you'll need to do is to design your circuit, then design a PCB for it, etc...

To do that, it'd probably be best to use Launchpads or development/evaluation kits

    start programming

Programming comes at the end of the design process...
