MSP430G2x03 QNF AVCC pin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2203

Dear Sirs

I have to use the QFN version of the MSP430G2203 micro.

It has an AVCC pin.

What is the AVCC range ?

Where do I have to connect it?

Thank you in advance

Best Regards

Andrea Sorio

See the datasheet. Since AVCC and DVCC are connected through clamp diodes, AVCC ust not differ from DVCC more than the diode voltage.

The main reason for a separate pin is that you can apply a filtered version of DVCC (without digital ripples) to it. A common approach is to connect AVCC to DVCC with a 10 ohms series resistor and put a separate deblocking capacitor on it. If ADC precision isn't an issue, you can just connect the two.

Similar for DVSS. To avoid currents on DVSS lifting the GND level for the analog parts, it is recommended that teh analog circuitry has its own GND (wher enot operating currents flow) and which is connected with the digital GND right at the supply. Again, if precision is unimportant, you can just connect the two.
