What would you recommend for a portable BGM, a MSP430 with integrated AFE (is it enough or additional components should be added?) or MSP430 and an external AFE (like LMP91002).

There are many drug companies that make blood test reagents also make meters. They give the meters away and make money in selling the test reagents. The meter is useless without the specific test reagent. Are you sure what you are trying to make?
You probably want to use one of the F4xx chip with built-in OA, ADC, LCD, RTC and IrDA .TI is the primary supplier for the existing BGM and that is why TI implemented the IrDA capable UART in some of the MSP430 chips.
Yes, I see your point. The idea is to make the test reagents as national production in Argentina but we also need the BGM (probably given for free too). So you recommend that F4xx is enough with the built-in OA no need of and external AFE or trasimpedance amplifier, right?

I see. In that case, you may need to review whether you need to use IrDA to be able to upload the test log to a PC. This is a common practice for the US drug companies, but it involves an IrDA adapter on the PC side too.
I am not familiar with the required analog front-end to read the test reagent.
