What is a LCD driver? I can directly connect the pins of micro-controller to LCD then why to use LCD driver?

    If you have uC with LCD display controller then it does not make sense to use external one. Anyway there's many applications where display module with built-in LCD controller is worth to consider. They are small-batch devices and hobby projects. When you are building mass-product, then perhaps you shall manufacture custom LCD and use uC with built-in LCD controller - to bring manufacturing costs down in expense of development costs.
