Can not run Launchpad workshop executable file

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2231

Retired E.E.

first post.

I have window 7 PC.

have a launch pad with MSP430G2231.

was able to load CCS 5.0 ok.

I was able to down load MSP430-Launchpad_workshop_v2.20(1).however when I try to ope the file, window wants to what program you want to use to open it?

How do I solve this issue?

  • Try appending '.exe' to the file name.

  • Hi Pravin,

Peppe is correct - you need to save the file somewhere then change the filename to add .exe. This appears to be a mistake in the way the file is uploaded on the wiki. I will report this to try and get it fixed so others do not run into the same problem. Thanks again.

P.S. If you have only CCS v 5.0 installed (though this may have been a typo), I'd highly recommend to install CCS v 5.5.0 if possible - this is the latest version and has many fixes and improvements. In addition, the version of the Launchpad workshop you are using requires CCSv5.3 or higher. You can check your version in CCS by going to Help > About Code Composer Studio, and you can get the latest CCS here. I highly recommend doing a clean install if you have an older version already installed (either by uninstalling the old version or installing the new version in a different folder).

    Regards,

    Katie
