Hi,
selecting a microcontroller for our application the long term availability of the device is quite important. Do you know if there is any indicator how long a specific part will be available in the MSP430 family?

Hi Daniel,
You may want to see Leo's post here: http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/msp430/f/166/p/255339/894534.aspx
As well as the TI obsolescence policy: http://focus.ti.com/quality/docs/gencontent.tsp?templateId=5909&navigationId=11224&contentId=5020
As Leo mentioned, there are many MSP430 devices that have are still available that were released many years ago. I would also recommend bringing up your concern with your local TI sales representative or distributor. They should be able to help you discuss your concerns and options to ensure you will have supply for the lifetime of your product or a migration path.
Regards,
Katie
