Timer or watchdog with MSP430G2231

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2231

Hello,

I am looking for some ideas/help with my project. We have a circuit that i am currently working on which requires MSP430G2231 to work as a watchdog for the circuit.

The MSP430 is supposed to count down from 30s to 0s and turn the output high which turns the alarm on the when no interrupt was generated. If an interrupt was generated, it is supposed to reset the counter back to 30 and count again.

Where do i start to get the counter working in real time? Also, should i use watchdog or just the timer?

I am very new to this and thus, have no idea how this works.

Please advise.

Thank you
