MSP-TS430PZ100USB disappeared off TI's website?? What do I use for F5659 model now?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5659

I am looking to order more dev boards for the F5659 but all links have been removed from the website and all my bookmarks are now broken. Does anyone know why this happened and how we are supposed to use our F5659 chips now? What development board, if any, can be used for an MSP430F5659 now?

  • Indeed, the product page of the F5659 does not have any link to related hardware, no target board, no FET. Same for the product page of the F5658.

It is possible that the a new board is on its way but not released yet, and the old one is out of production and out of stock.
Well, I don't really like TI's policy of removing updated parts and (especially) documents completely instead of marking them as obsolete. While it makes no difference for new customers,  It often leaves old customers baffled, like you now.

However, the product pages for the  F5358/F5359 show the MSP-TS430PZ100C target board (and still no link to the FET430UIF), which is the non-USB version. Well, with some wires it should be possible to attach the USB connector :)
Of course, the BSL connector is useless, but except for pins 77 to 83, and two more diodes and buttons, the board circuit seems to be identical.

  • Digikey and Mouser are listing the 100USB as discontinued/end-of-life. It's very strange TI isn't saying why, listing a replacement, or anything. :(

  • Hi Brett and all,

I checked up on this. The MSP-TS430PZ100USB kit is NOT discontinued or end of life - it is simply temporarily out of stock and can't be ordered at the moment (though you will be able to order it again in the future). The product pages for the board disappearing from the website was a mistake - we have now notified our web teams and are working to get them back on the web as soon as possible. I hope this helps to alleviate your concerns, and I want to thank you for pointing it out to us!

    Regards,

    Katie

  • Thanks Katie!

And a note should go to the distributors who have apparently interpreted the disappearance as "discontinued notice".

Yes, we are definitely contacting them as well. :-)

Sorry for the confusion this might have caused - hopefully everything will be updated soon.
