How to program port P1.3

What exactly do u want msp 430 to connect to  when the p1.3 button is pressed? and as far as i know it is not possible to switch off the board using a button

1.)How do u introduce a signal..(ADC or KeyPress Pulse)

2.)What exactly is the nature of the pulse

the impulse comes from 2 electrode gel, housed in the human body I have one analogic board with this impulse.
