LaunchPad Rev 1.5 powered with a 3.3V battery, How to debugging with USB 3.6V?

I have my LaunchPad Rev 1.5 powered with a 3.3V battery. OK.
What should I do to debug the system that is running on battery 3.3V on my computer (IAR WorkBench)? I could leave open the J3 VCC but in communicating the level of voltage would be different and may cause problems. Do I need to do a simple conversion circuit? What is the most common practice? Thank you all.
