Yet another MSP-FET430UIF driver problem

Cheers,

I got afore mentioned prorammer box and MSP-EXP430jF5438 and I get this annoying

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
Driver is not intended for this platform.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."

And when pressing install/upgrade driver my Win 7/32 machine pops up message:

Windows found driver.....

MSP-FET430UIF-VCP

Driver is not intended for this platform

after browsing the forums I tried:

  • Installing CC-Ide version 5.4  as the 5.5 version always stops installing
  • Installing driver package from Wiki.
  • Installing FETPro-430 in order to  to read version the flasher box. And  as predicted it will not either it just gives MSP430.dll initialization error.

Seems like annoyingly persistent problem. Perhaps cause by the fact that I plugger device on before installing code composer? Anyway restoring to start point seems quite hard and quite stuck what to try next.

The VCP drivers are no longer used. The latest generation (CCS 5.x) uses a different driver model (CDC? I always forget these acronyms). Apparently, this driver package wasn't even updated for WIn7.
The correct driver package should be found in the CCS installation folder. (well, it even should install automatically together with the IDE).
