Hi, I am designing my own board with a msp430f5438a microcontroller and I plan to program it using the spy-bi-wire interface. I wonder if I can buy the ez430-f2013 to program and debug this u-controller with mspdebug utils under Linux, or maybe the ez430-rf2500, or, What programmer do you recommend to me that be cheap and be able to program this u-controller by spi-bi-wire?

Hi Daniel.

Take a look into MSP-FET430UIF. It includes USB debugging interface used to program and debug the MSP430 in-system through the JTAG interface or the pin saving Spy Bi-Wire (2-wire JTAG) protocol

10$ MSP430F5529 LP should be able also to debug / flash msp430f5438a. If you have older MSP430G2 LP ...
