I am thinking about ordering some ICs for this launchpad(MSP-EXP430G2). Can you please suggest me some?

Well, don't oder unsupported chips, like those which are not in DIL case or not from G2 family. (e.g. the G2955, even though it is form G2 family, is AFAIK not supported - and not available in DIL case, only in TSSOP)

Thank you for your suggestion. I did have a look at the samples. there were 109 results.

You should check out MSP-EXP430G2 LaunchPad Experimenter Board User's Guide. You will find list of supported devices up there: http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau318d/slau318d.pdf#page=12

You can try to sample chips from TI or buy them from distributor http://www.ti.com/general/docs/distributorinfo.tsp

Try the product selector on the MSP home page.
Check for PDIP case first (47 results), then narrow it down further to your requirements (USI or USCI, how much ram/flash you need, ADC, whatever etc.)
