MSP430G2452 DALI: Problem with addressing the slave

Hey everyone,

I have been testing out the MSP430 Launchpad with the M430G2452 chip as a DALI slave as refered here: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa422a/slaa422a.pdf

Now I'm having some problems giving the slave an address:

When using random addressing with a Beckhoff PLC it gives it every address in a sequence (it doesn't withdraw from the addressing.

When I use physical selection with a beckhoff PLC oddly enough it gives it an address without me having to interupt the line.

When using an NXP master board to address it: it goes through the addressing sequence but never gives it an address.

Trying to address it with multiple slaves on the bus will either not make it work or copy one of the addresses another slave got.

This faulty addressing is leading me to believe there is something wrong with the special commands.

Has anyone have had simular problems with this ? or have any advice for me?

Greetings Sven.

  • Hello Sven,

I have also faced similar problems in Auto Addressing with TI MSP430 DALI stack.

I have tested the same with 2 different DALI controllers, but the DALI device is not getting addressed whatsoever. If there is a single device connected to a DALI network, then the device will get an address. But the Master controller does not even identify all devices, when multiple devices are connected in the network.

All other functionalities are working fine except Automatic Addressing. I believe there is some loophole in the TI DALI stack. If anyone has a solution for this, please advice me.

    Regards,
    Subrahmanya
