Code Composer 6 in Linux cannot connect to MSP-EXP430G2

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET, ENERGIA, EK-TM4C123GXL

I have installed Code Composer both Under Linux Ubuntu 12.04 and through Virtual Box Lubuntu 12.04.

I can not connect to the MSP-EXP430G2 it says it can not find MSP-FET 430UIF.

This is the information I see in the system log.

Please note that all connections in Energia work without a problem.

Not sure if the rules under /etc/udev/rules.d are created correctly.

It has been a real nightmare trying to get Code Composer Studio to work.

The only Version under Windows XP that works with the MSP-430 is 5.1

All the other versions have various installation problems.

Under Windows XP

Code Composer 6 hangs during the installation.

Code Composer 5.3 terminates with a Win32 exception during installation.

Code Composer 5.5 installs ok,but, when trying to connect to the target crashes and then exits the IDE.

Under Linux Ubuntu 12.04 and Lubuntu 12.04 cannot make connect to any target.

I have purchased a number of other LaunchPad Evaluations Kits

TM4C1294

EK-TM4C123GXL

I have spend over month trying to resolve these problems with no help from Texas Instruments.

This is my last try.

I will move on and purchase other chip sets for evaluation and never us Texas Instruments again.

Please note: I have called Texas Instruments on the phone and explained to them the problem and

they have been of no help. Not even and e-mail or phone call

Unfortunately, the MSP-EXP430G2 Launchpad isn't supported under Linux - see http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Linux_Host_Support_CCSv6#Not_Supported_2

Did you follow the Resolve Dependencies as detailed on the Ubuntu 12.04 sections of Linux Host Support?

From experience of CCS under CentOS if the required libusb dependencies are not installed attempting to connect to a target fails with a non-informative error message.
