Hey,

looking at tidr105.pdf, which contains the Bill of Materials for EVM430-F6736 - MSP430F6736 EVM for Metering, there appears to be some components that are not visible. It appears that the excel fields were smaller than the data contained in in it, and thus some data was truncated.

Would it be possible to fix the pdf, or alternatively provide a excel document containing the same data.

The pdf in question was downloaded from, http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/tidr105

I'm a master degree student, undergoing my project work on energy meter.
Thanks for your correct version of the BOM but still i need a clarification on Inductor L1,L2,L3,L4,L5,L6 values.
Can you help me in this regard.

Hi Katie,

Thank you for your support, eventually i also found out that few other components are also mismatching between the schematic and your BOM.

If you can recheck by comparing both the files and send me the updated files, it will be of a great help.

Moreover I need to buy a TI 160 segment LCD which is used in EVM430-F6736 and I'm planning to buy Evaluation meter also, can you help me out in this regard.

Hi Raja,

I have notified the metering team and they are working to update the BOM on the web, however this may take some time.

The EVM is available from the TI e-store:

I don't think that the exact same LCD from the evm is available separately for purchase anywhere as this is a custom LCD. Usually people choose their own display for their end application to meet their custom requirements.

I'm sorry, but there simply isn't a way to do this. I'm unfortunately not going to be able to help you here.

However you should be able to order any number of other segmented LCD displays on the web with similar segment layout (it's pretty standard) and be able to use these with minimal porting effort. I hope this will meet your needs, and I'm sorry that I cannot help more.

Hi Katie,

I'm developing an energy meter by taking EVM430-F6736 - MSP430F6736 as a reference meter along with the help of your schematic diagrams and BOM.

Since I'm following exactly your reference meter, I have fabricated the PCB layout form your Gerber files.

Now I hope you can understand my importance for your custom LCD.

Kindly suggest me some other LCD models or links which will suit for the energy meter.

Please share me the updated BOM and other latest design files related to your EVM430-F6736 energy meter.

Apparently I find out that the image of energy meter in your online store and the image of same meter(page-16) in your Application Report is not matching. I have attached the links below for your reference.

Hi Raja,

Those two links/images (the estore and the one in the app note) are for the same kit - the kit you receive will work with all associated code etc from the app note, so do not worry.

For the LCD, I understand this is important to you, but there simply is not a way for me to get you the custom LCD as I mentioned before. I can't really recommend one either - what I'd suggest is that you go look and try to find a 4-mux LCD that appears to have similar digits/segments as the one on the EVM. I don't have any suggestion of a specific one for you. At least you will also have the LCD on the kit that you order.

The first image is taken from the latest App report and other image is from your old App report.

The Product image in both websites are only matching the second picture which looks like previous version.

Hi Katie,

Thank you so much for your kind help and support, I will place my order in a couple of days.

Now I need your favor to get the latest updated BOM for the energy meter which I have already requested earlier.

Actually I have edited and corrected the BOM by taking the Schematic Diagrams as reference, so either you get in touch with the metering team and request them them to cross check and give a confirmation whether I can go forward with the same or I will wait for their final BOM.

Since I'm already running short of time, I have to develop the same meter and compare it with your standard meter, then I have to add some additional features and produce it as a prototype, later the meter will undergo calibration,testing and validation which should result as an End-Product.

So your active support and help in this regard is highly appreciable.

Of course no one is going to know your research needs better than yourself, and I'm not honestly a metering expert myself so I would not know the best thing to recommend. We have links to MSP430 kits evms and tools here: so that would probably be a good place for you to look and see what you might want.
