I have a control board which is using a MSP430F5418 controller i want to know weather i can use MSP430 launchpad for programming it.

With MSP430F5529 LP yes. For MSP430G2 LP check this topic...

If you don't need debugging, MSP430G2 LP can be used as BSL base. There is slaa535 LaunchPad-Based MSP430 UART BSL Interface with prepared scripts for MSP430F5438.

Hi,

the MSP430F5418 is not officially supported by the MSP430 Launchpad MSP-EXP430G2, so not 100% guaranteed that it will work:
