MSP430F2132: ADC10 sample and hold source

Hi there

I'm using the MSP430F2132 in a current project and I've got a question regarding the sample and hold source for the ADC10.

In the User's Guide for the 2xx series, it says for the sample and hold source one of the following can be selected:

- ADC10SC
- Timer_A.OUT1
- Timer_A.OUT0
- Timer_A.OUT2

As there are 2 TimerA modules on the F2132, which one is the one that can be used as sample and hold source?

I suppose it's TimerA0, since TimerA1 only has two Capture/Compare Units and thus only two Output Units. But I can't find any information on that.

    Hi Roman,

    You can use both timers for this! I would recommend to have a look at the TI examples for MSP430F2132.

    msp430x21x2_adc10_13.c - ADC10, DTC Sample A1 32x, AVcc, TA0 Trig, DCO - should have the information you're looking for.

    Well, I don't get it with that example. It doesn't explain if I can use the output units of Timer0_A3, Timer1_A2 or both of them as sample and hold source for ADC10. But I had a second look at the data sheet of the MSP430F21x2 series. According to the two last columns of the table of Timer0_A3 on page 15 and the same of Timer1_A2 on page 16, it seems that only the output units of Timer0_A3 can be uses as sample and hold source for the ADC10. Is this right?

    Hello,

    Yes, the datasheet is the correct place for this information.

    If you look at pg 15 of the MSP430F2132 D/s under Timer0_A3 you can see the internal connections to the ADC10.

    However there is a typo in the D/s.

    In Timer0_A3; TA0.0, TA0.1 and TA0.2 can be connected to ADC10

    Only Timer0_A3 has connections to ADC10.
