MSP430F6659: the default TI USB BSL pre-programmed in the chips

Nice to meet you.

We are developing the product with TI MSP430F6659 MCU.

We have some questions for the default TI USB BSL of MSP430F6659 MCU as follows:

1) Is the default TI USB BSL pre-programmed in the flash of MCUs before shipping to us?

2) Is the default TI USB BSL pre-programmed in the MCU same for every MCUs?

    So, we can duplicate the default TI USB BSL in a MCU and program it into the other MCUs without modification.

    Yes.

    If you mean "Do all MSP430F6659 devices have same BSL?" then yes. A BSL from a different device type probably won't work. While the source package is common, memory maps etc aren't. Therefore the source is compiled for each target device.

    Other than to replace a BSL that was accidentally erased, why would you need to?

    About the question 2), please do us a favor to refer to the answer as follows:
    >> We are trying to customizing the default TI USB BSL for our H/W design with MSP430F6659 MCU.
    >> After we programmed the customized USB BSL into MSP430F6659, we need to restore this MCU to default TI USB BSL if something wrong.
    >> So, we can duplicate the default TI USB BSL from another MCU and program it into this MCU.

    We know MSP430F6659 MCUs pre-programmed with default TI USB BSL have the same USB vendor ID and product ID.


    Have the MSP430F6659 MCUs pre-programmed with default TI USB BSL the same USB serial number?
