MSP430F2013 compatibility with MSPBoot

Hi guys, new member here!

I've been reading the datasheet for this device as well as the SLAA600A Application Report about MSPBoot, and I cannot gather from either document whether or not the MSP430F2013 is compatible with MSPBoot (with I2C or SPI). Otherwise, I will have to use BSL to do in circuit programming of the device.

Can anybody help with this?

There is an example in MSPBoot for MSP430G2452. I think you can modify it for MSP430F2013.

SLAA450C Chapter 2 has an example of a more primitive Bootstrap for MSP430G2001 with a much smaller footprint. It can be modified for MSP430F2013 too.

Thanks for the response. Looking at the pinout for the MSP430G2452, it does look remarkably similar to the MSP430F2013. I will look into pursuing this path.

Correct, but please notice that G2452 has a lot more Flash and RAM as compared with F2013 whereas G2001 has a lot less.

The path less traveled may turn out to be more scenic ;)

Why not just use the BSL with a serial interface? Would that not be the easiest, since the BSL is already built into the chip? I just need to be able to program it and read from it to check to see if it's already programmed.

That is a very good question for MSPboot.

But it does not apply to F2013, nor to the primitive Bootstrap describe inSLAA450C Chapter 2.
