***********Electricity meter noise canceller

I am working on an electricity meter with MSP430F4 that needs a noise canceller circuit. By any chance, does anyone have any have any idea where I can get some idea about noise cancellation design?

  • Pretty vague question.

Electrical noise?, where is the noise giving you problem?
Data Sampling noise that needs software local smoothing?

In electrical noise, split V in to DVcc and AVcc and the same for GND's so they only meet at entry of power source on PCB
They call that star pattern, but as no one really have power coming in to center of board, it's more like a tree or burst pattern

You are absolutely right Tony! My bad! It is not clear! Let me explained you a little bit more. For the commercial and residential purposes you have high freq. noise. Then you will add a line filter to cancel out the noise. I am almost there! I just wanted to see if someone has had the pretty much same experience with this.

It has nothing to do with the software only hardware!

  • You may have already looked at this, but http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/slyt541/slyt541.pdf shows several metrology kits - you may be able to glean something from the schematics of those circuits regarding hardware noise cancellation techniques that are used in the examples.
