Can I program the msp430 microcontroller series, with a TIVA C series Launchpad?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGYTRACE, MSP-EXP430FR5969, MSP-FET

Hi I am George, I am beginner in the  microcontrollers area, and i would like know if  can i program the msp430 microcontroller series, with a TIVA C series Launchpad board?

something like this.

thx.

regards.

  • Hi Jorge,

Unfortunately, the Tiva C uses different emulation for programming than what is required by the MSP430. So you won't be able to use the Tiva Launchpad to program an MSP430. You would need an MSP430 programming tool like the MSP-FET, or an MSP430 Launchpad with the eZ-FET emulation like the MSP-EXP430FR5969. At least these tools also have some other cool features like EnergyTrace.

    Regards,

    Katie

Hi Jorge, your picture is a TIVA chip, so this is possible, remove VCC jumper to do this.

MSP430 is JTAG too but ICDI is not supported nor other standard JTAG, programmer firmware is open source and if someone has a lot of time to waste it can be adapted to TIVA board and also my dream to TIVA129 to program MSP by network too.
