Importing MSP-EXP430F5529LP Schematic into Mentor Graphic Pads

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430F5529LP, MSP-EXP430FR5969

The schematic for the MSP-EXP430F5529LP is available here:

We have imported it in Designer Schematic. However, we can't import it into Pads Layout. Aren't both softwares from Mentor Graphics? Has anyone ported the schematic into Pads?

  • Rodney,

The 5529 LaunchPad design was done in EAGLE. Eagle is not part of Mentor Graphics. There may be some software out there (maybe built into PADS) that is able to convert the files over, but I am not personally aware of any.

If you are looking for more full featured CAD software than EAGLE, I know that Altium Designer has the ability to import EAGLE files into Altium designs. This is built into Altium. That could be a possibility for you.

  • Rodney- 1 more thing I will mention. The MSP-EXP430FR5969 LaunchPad was designed in Mentor Graphics PADS. I am not sure what you are looking to reuse, but that LaunchPad is already in PADS so it won't require any porting to the new program. It may be easier to start there and add whatever you need.
  • Yep. The MSP-EXP430F5529 schematic is in EAGLE. We converted it to KiCad and Altium. But still couldn't port.

So going to draw the schematic manually.

    Thanks for the info.
