Hi,

We are using the MSP430F55299 USB LaunchPad Evaluation Kit and plan to build our own custom board with the microcontroller. I noticed on the LaunchPad that the ez Lite emulator is used to flash and debug the code but since we are moving on to our own custom board, we are not planning to add the ez Lite emulator. Do you have a means of adding the bootloader to the MCU and to enable firmware upgrades on the field?

The MSP430F5529 device comes pre-programmed with a USB-based BSL. This will allow in-system programming of the device. In-field programming can also be accomplished if you provide a method in your application to call into the BSL, or provide some button to connect PUR to VBUS during powerup.

Check the technical documents section of the 5529 product page. There should be links to BSL information and the proper connections. There are also code examples showing how to enter the BSL from application code.

You also have the option to reprogram the BSL during your manufacturing process with a serial-based BSL if you don't have a USB port on your product.
