MSP-EXP430FR5969 New Out of Box: wants to re-flash

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430FR5969

I ordered a replacement MSP-EXP430FR5969 as the last one was nearly bricked when I chose to UPDATE at this dialog:

Choosing IGNORE, I get:

.. which is rather unexpected.

The debugger does bring me into the main C file, however, and seems to run.

Is it safe to reply UPDATE?  If not, is there a way to disable this dialog?

  • Hi,

What version of CCS are you using? If you are using something other than 6.1, can you try updating to the latest version and use the new version to update the emulator firmware. There should be no issues updating the FR5969 Launchpad emulator. CCS will recognize what type of emulator it is on the board, and should update with the correct files.

  • 6.1.0

Not sure I am brave enough to repeat the last near-disaster. However, if it fails, will TI ship me a replacement?
  • CCS6.1 should have no issues updating the FR5969 Launchpad.  I found this previous post of yours where Katie was helping you out.  Please follow her recommendations.

Particularly the part about adding the 5V pin BEFORE attempting to connect or run the Kentec QVGA display.  Also, try updating the firmware on the eZ-FET on the FR5969 Launchpad before attempting to connect or run the Kentec display.

  • This is a just out of the box EXP430FR5969 with no mods and no display attached.

I went ahead and pressed the UPDATE button (with fingers crossed). It worked fine.

    False alarm.
