MSP-430FR6989

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA, MSP430FR6989

I got a free sample from TI (MSP-430FR6989),after soldering and wiring, I tried adding it as new board to Energia, but no success!

I then selected FR5969 as the board on energia tools  and used an FR5969 board that I already have to program the 6989, I was able to blink an led.

My question; how to add the 6989 to energia to make use of all its capabilities?

  • Jabbar,

can you have a look at the processor's housing if there is "XMS430" on it? The MSP430FR6989 is one of the processors where TI stopped the support for the XMS device after releasing the official MSP430FR6989 - at least in CCS. So maybe Energia does not support it anymore, as well.

  • Dennis,

    Thank you for the reply.

The processor does not have "XMS430" on it. Just for clarification, I have an FR5969 Launchpad which I used to program the FR6989 processor which I soldered as in the picture, I do not have a launchpad with FR6989, just a processor.. energia 15 has support for launchpad with FR5969, but it does not have support for FR6989. I tried to add a board with the FR6989, but couldn't, got errors.

    Thanks,

    Jabbar

  • So, there is an Energia 16 version, not out yet that supports the FR6989 MCU and launchpad, it also supports FR4133.
