EVM430-I2040S emeter / energy library software?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EVM430-I2040S, EVM430-F6736

Hello,

I planned to use the EVM430-i2040S, which you can found here: www.ti.com/.../EVM430-i2040S

According to the SLAA638 http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa638/slaa638.pdf , there should be a compatible software of the energy library with the EVM430-I2040S. But when I download it from here http://www.ti.com/tool/msp430-energy-library (SLAA637) which is available on the first link I gave you, the target I am looking for is not included.

I couldn't find it anywhere else. Could you please tell me where I can found the appropriate software?

Best regards,

Eric

  • Hello Eric,

According to the EVM430-i2040S, the Software and User's Guide is provided on a disc that is included with purchase of the EVM. I am currently looping in the EVM author to further comment on if the software can otherwise be provided.

    Regards,
    Ryan
  • Eric,

The libray used for this EVM is not the same as MSP430 energy library. The library (offers in object code only) and the example application (offers in source and oject code) is included in the CD that comes with the EVM. You can also download it from this page : www.ti.com/.../TIDM-SERVER-PWR-MON

    Thank you.

  • Hi Ryan and Mars,

Thank you both for your answers.

I already have the EVM430-F6736 but I have got many issues with the code provided and the EVM itself. So I am changing for the EVM430-I2040S. Do you know if I would be able to use it with Code Composer Studio V6? Even with some changes on my side?

Mars Leung, the link you posted doesn't lead anywhere. Could you please re-post it? It would be very useful for me to see the code.

Furthermore, what do you mean by "object" and "source" code?

    Best Regards,

    Eric

  • Eric,

the code written for EVM430-I2040S only tested on IAR 5.52.1 You may need to do some code change if you want to use version > 5.52.1. CCS, unfortunately is not supported.

Please try to copy this link www.ti.com/.../TIDM-SERVER-PWR-MON to the browser. I don't knwo when when I put the '/' at the end it brings you to an error.

The example code on the CD (and the link I pointed to you) for EVM430-I2040S does not have the source code of the library provided. We just provide the compiled library (object code). There is an example application calls the library functions. This example application has its source code on the CD.

  • Mars,

I downloaded the software from the link you gave me. Some files are missing, e.g. "metrology-background.c" or "metrology-foreground.c", and a few other one. Can you confirm that they are on the CD provided when purchasing the EVM? It seems strange that for this specific software and this EVM I don't get these files, but for the other the EVM430-F6736 and its software, we have them provided directly.

    Eric
  • Eric,

The file is not included in the download package nor on the CD. We intentionally remove it from free distribution for tracking customer. However you do not need these files to run or modify the application, that particular part of source code is already complied as a software library and distributed int the package (Please see the EVM user guide or the TI design, design guide for the detail about this). If you really want to modify the algorithm of the metering calculation you can contact our sales office near your region, we will decide shall the source code of that particular part will be distribute to customer. Thank you.
