Trouble using Spy Bi-Wire with CCS 6 and MSP-FET430UIF

We're having some difficulty in using an MSP-FET430UIF to program an MSP430-based device using Spy Bi-Wire.  We verified that we are indeed using the TDO/TDI, VCC_TARGET, TCK and GND lines.  For whatever reason though, Code Composer Studio can't connect to this device.

Is there some setting in Code Composer Studio that we need to adjust?

  • Hello Dean,

    Which MSP430 are you using?

Also have you seen the HW User Guide that describes the proper connections for SBW including required pullups and cap? It is shown in Figures 2-2 and 2-3 depending on the device family. www.ti.com/lit/slau278

FRAM devices follow the F5xxx/F6xxx Family device connections.

Also, have you taken care to ensure the connection from the board to the debugger does not exceed 8 inches (20CM) in length? Excessive cable length or additional capacitance on the SBW lines can cause communication instability.

    Regards,
    JH
