Hi,

I'm working with MSP430FR5729 Controller.

I'm trying to glow/blink LED.

Without giving any clock my code is working fine.

My question is what will be the default clock frequency can a MSP430FR5729 run with and how to know that frequency.

Hi Ramesh!

You can output your internal clocks to specific pins. SMCLK (PJ.0), MCLK (PJ.1) and ACLK (PJ.2). The datasheet shows you which bits you will have to set in order to use this special function of the pins:

Hi Dennis,

Thank you for the reply.

If i configure anyone of the above pins as clock pin then i can see the clock frequency of the micro controller.

Am I right?

Well...yes, but of course you have to configure the right pin for the desired clock.

Hi Dennis,
if i configured a pin as output clock and set the frequency i can see the clock on CRO.
i have seen different clocks like MCLK, SMCLK, ACLK, DCO.
I want to know by default with which clock and frequency MSP430FR5729 controller is running, if i didn't configure any clock in my code and didn't connect any External Crystal.

Your processor runs with MCLK, so enable the special function for PJ.1 to make it available on this pin. The peripherals normally run with SMCLK (this is configurable for each module of the processor) which is available when enabling the special function for PJ.0 and ACLK is the auxiliary clock, often sourced by an external 32k768 crystal. But also internal clocks can source ACLK. This one is available when selecting the special function option for PJ.2 - the given table shows the required PxSEL/PxDIR settings for proper configuration.
