CCS 6.1.1 does not recognizes Launchpad MSP-EXP430F5529LP in windows 10

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430F5529LP, MSP430F5529

I have upgraded to windows 10 and now CCS does not recognizes MSP-EXP430F5529LP. The following message is shown when I try to debug a program:

No USB FET found.

If I connect a MSP-EXP430G2 Launchpad CCS founds it and works properly.

I have notice a difference between this to evaluation boars in Windows Device Manager in "Ports (COM & LPT) when are connected:

- MSP430G2 board: 2 COMs are installed with name "MSP Application UART1 (COMx)" and "MSP Debug Interface (COMy)"

- MSP430F5529 board: 2 COMs are installed but not as "MSP", instead two "generic" COMs are installed....

If I do the same process in windows 7 or 8.1 Device Manager shows both boards as "MSP COMs" and both boards works properly..

Maybe Windows 10 does not recognizes USB interface of the MSP-EXP430F5529LP properly.

Any suggestion to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance,

Jose Bosch

  • Hi Josep,

The fact that the MSP-EXP430G2 works whereas the MSP-EXP430F5529LP does not indicates that the issue does not have to do with the machine's USB port, and getting it to work in Windows 7/8.1 lets us know that the F5529 Launchpad is in fact operational. This leads me to believe that the eZ-FET lite drivers indeed did not install properly. This makes sense seeing as how the MSP-EXP430G2 contains a different kind of emulator (eZ430) which requires different drivers that appear to have installed correctly. Please download the latest CDC drivers from processors.wiki.ti.com/.../MSP_Debug_Stack, section "Low-Level USB Drivers"

  • Hi Ryan,

Thank you very much for your help. Effectively, the problem was related with the eZ-lite drivers. It seems that the drivers were lost during the migration from windows 7 to windows. The process is automatic for the installed applications, CCS one of this, but not for all drivers. My mistake was that, as installed the last CCS version (6.1.1, before I have the 6.1.0) I supposed that the drivers were already installed too, but this does not happened. As you suggested me, I have downloaded the CDC drivers and now it works properly.

    Thank you very much,

    Jose Bosch

  • Good to hear that and could not imagine Windows 10 was the reason since it is running fine with this combination of LP and CCS on my Windows 10 machine. , could you mark Ryan's answer as the solution to your problem? Thanks in advance!
