Msp430g2553 with the LIDAR lite v2

I am currently trying to get the LIDAR lite v2 to work with the msp430g2553, I thought that it was simply services I2c and then just connect it the LIDAR but no, you need to send and receive to the control registers of the LIDAR, my problem is the I have no clue where to start.  Any help!!
