MSP432 - frying chips. Solution found.

Hi,

Don't do it, like I did.

It is relatively easy to fry the MSP 432, as a main core, as well as emulator side. For emulator side just need to touch upper-side electronics near micro-usb port to damange power supply chips. For main core you just need for nanoseconds to touch the 5v connector even through connected LED to one of the available ports.

There are over issues with RAM-memory access to enabled RAM-blocks when over RAM-blocks are powered down.

But anyway, MSP432 is a new preview product, so do not expect good behaviors from this board.

I hope some modifications will be done to make this board more resistive to such power issues.

I hope so.

Regards,

Alex

PS: The main core consuming ~80mA of current and heating up to 40°C but fully functional. Internal impendence of power circuit of the main core is around 35 Ω, but should be around 500 kΩ. The emulator core is heating around 45°C and power regulator chips up to 55°C. But all is working. I will investigate what is actually went down.

Solution: Isolate C125 from external touching.
