Reading VCC MSP430FR5969

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGYTRACE

Hello all!

I want to measure Vcc for my board using Software. I want to know Voltage and Current readings(Like EnergyTrace). Is there any way to do that?

Thanks

Teja

  • Hi Raghava!

Measuring the Vcc voltage isn't a problem at all. There is a built in voltage divider between AVcc and GND that can be routed to the ADC module when ADC12BATMAP is enabled. It gives you half the supply voltage.

Measuring the current consumption isn't that easy. You would need some sort of shunt resistor in series with the supply rail, amplify the voltage across it and feed it into one the ADC channels. But this requires external hardware and cannot be done completely inside the MSP.

  • Dennis,

Thanks for the reply. I'll write the code and update you with the status.

    Thanks
