Hi,

I have a MSP430F5529 launchpad and Windows XP is the OS on my laptop. I use ccsv5. But I get an error saying

"Error initializing emulator:
No USB FET was found"

I am finding it difficult to understand where the problem is. Com port has detected the device.

So, the question is, whether it is problem with OS or CCS or my H/W connectivity.

Hi,

This sounds like an issue with the firmware version of the FET and CCS being unable to recognize it. It could be due to trying to use CDC FET tool firmware with the old version of CCS that only recognizes VCP. Additionally, make sure no other program is trying to use the COM port that the FET toool is plugged into.

-To check if this is the case, look in device manager and see how the FET tool is enumerating.

-Use Elprotronic Lite FET-Pro430 software to check the FET tool firmware version. (Tools > Read MSP-FET430UIF Firmware version)

-You may need to run the firmware upgrade/downgrade (see this wiki page: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../MSPDS_Debugger_Up-_and_Downgrade)

Could you try using MSP Flasher to see if the FET could connect to the device?
