CapTIvate: How to get RAW sensing data

Hi

Can I get the RAW sensing data from CapTIvate Design Center?

(Exporting to Excel is excellent way if it's possible...)

Regards,

Yuji

  • Hi Yuji,

In the CapTIvate Design Center, if you go to Communication -> Settings, then select the checkbox for Log Data, it will create some CSVs in the project folder: one for element data (this will have the raw data you are looking for), one for sensor data (slider position and similar), and one for user data (unused unless you use the user data functions in the software.

As long as the Log Data check box is connected, any new data that comes in will be appended to the end of the csv. If you disconnect and reconnect the project, it will still append. If you uncheck and recheck Log Data, it will start a new csv file, overwriting the existing one.

  • Hi Mike,

Thank you very much for your reply.
    There's perfect way!
And I really appreciate your detailed explanation.

May I ask you a additional question?
What is the 'user functions in the software'?
I would like to know where it is described in detail on CapTIvate Technology Guide.

    Regards,
    Yuji
  • Yuji,

The user functions in software that I mentioned are some function calls in the software library that allow the user to pass additional data (beyond just the CapTIvate data) through to USB interface to the PC. There is some additional detail in the CapTIvate Technology Guide in the Software Library -> How To -> Stream Unformatted Data to the Design Center GUI section.
