MSP430FR6989 EnergyTrace++ free run always gives zero current for first sample

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGYTRACE, MSP430FR6989

Hi, TI.

The MSP430FR6989 EnergyTrace++ free run always gives zero current for first sample. So, statistics always gives minimum current/power value as zero, which is not true.

I suggest to make a little update for emulator to fix this issue.

Thanks.

  • Alexey,

    Thanks for the feedback here.

You do bring up a very good point. And we'll see what we can do to improve it.

Here is a background why the min is zeo. Unfortunately, the way EnergyTrace is designed to capture Energy through a cap. And current is back calculated based on the energy, vcc, and time. In short, the current will always be zero initially because energy starts from 0.

  • Or, as an option it would be nice to add CCS to the EnergyTrace preferences menu new ability to skip a few samples as they usually brake a real picture of the situation in a power consumption. In a 'free run' mode, of course, and as this mode is not linked with the code, there is no reason not to add such option.
