Relation between the kHz vs ksps

Hi,

I have the basic questions, may be it is annoying somebody I am so sorry for that. My question is shall we say 100kHZ is equal to 100ksps (Kilo Samples Per Second), also 400kHz = 400ksps. Can any one guide me to understand this.

  • Hi Prakash,

kHz is a measure of frequency and refers to a number of events occurring in a second. It can refer to any number of things such as CPU clock speed, heart rate, etc. KSPS is Kilo Samples Per Second as you mentioned.

When referring to sampling, kHz generally refers to the number of bits per second, whereas KSPS refers to the number of samples per second. This number of samples however depends on the sample size, a sample may be 8 bits, 16 bits, etc.

Hope this cleared things up a bit. Is there something in particular you're looking for clarification on?
