CC430 Gerber Files

Hi,

I downloaded the gerber files for the CC430 evaluation board yesterday (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/em430f6137rf900.html), and I had some questions about them.  I need to figure out what each file is (eg top silkscreen, top soldermask, top copper, inner copper, etc...).  Here is a list of the files.  If anyone know what they are the help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.

  • Eric,

thanks for the feedback, maybe we could have made it a little bit clearer with the naming convention:

    L01-04.GDO = Layer 1-4
    MB/MT.GDO = Solder MASK Bottom & Top
    PB/PT.GDO = Solder PASTE Bottom & Top
    SBW/STW.GDO = Silkscreen Bottom & Top
    FAB.GDO = vias & thru-holes (drills)

    CKNOTE/DOKU01 = notes/docs

    Hope that helps!

    Regards,

    Dung

  • I was able to order the PCB just fine, but then the manufacturer sent me a message today saying the hole size was too small.  The smallest hole on the board is 11 mil, but the smallest that the manufacturer can do is 15 mil (under their "student special").  They can do down to 10 mil, but I'll need to pay extra for it.  Does anyone know if there are EagleCAD files that I can download so that I can change the hole size, or perhaps another manufacturer (currently using www.4pcb.com) that will make the boards as they are for around $66 each?  Thank you!

  • Hi Eric,

We use Mentor Expedition for design the CC430 EM-Board. So you have no change to handle the datafile with EagleCAD.

  • Hello,

I am trying to use these gerber files for reference for another design I am working on. I am having trouble working with the .gdo file format. I use Altium designer 6 and I can't seem to find any way to import or convert the files to a format that I can use. I tried using the evaluation version of Mentor Expedition to convert the files, but either the software can't preform that function or it is disabled in the evaluation version. I someone could point me to a free piece of software to convert the files or if you can just convert them for me that would a huge help. Thanks for any response in advance.

  • Hi Mike,

One way what you can do is, convert each gerber layer to dxf format. You can do that with CAM350 or Gerbview.

The most of layout software can include dxf data.

I don’t know how Altium handle DXF data.
