MSP432 AES Performance

Hi TI,

I see, the AES architecture in CC13xx and CC26xx has been significantly improved to lower latency. Can we expect the new performance to be implemented in newer revision of MSP432 and MSP430FR5xx/MSP430FR6xx? At least for 128 bit mode.

Thanks,

Alexey

  • Hello Alexy,

The CC13xx and CC26xx devices are a slightly different architecture that allows for this speed increase. My best guess to the speed increase would have to do with the addressing (32bit vs 16) for the same algorithm is implemented across the devices. The MSP430FR5xx/6xxx (and MSP432) devices do have an updated module that allows for 256bit keys (compared to F5xx/6xx devices). The AES256 module within the FR5xx/6xx and MSP432 devices are the same and are thus addressed the same. I cannot speak for future devices for certain, but one could imagine steady improvements across the MSP 32bit platform as it matures.
