HID USB : Generate Shutdown signal to PC

Hello Everybody,

I dispose of a microcontroller board (based on MSP) which is connected to the PC over USB.

I'd like to generate a shutdown signal (System Control (Usage ID 0x80) ) .

For this I have to generate a Power button event. Do you know which class (sub-class) I have to implement on the uC-Board to get that working ?

The best document I have right now is the "Device Class Power Management Reference Specification" , page 6 which touches the Power / Sleep button....

Do you have more experience with that ? Thanks in advance...

Do you already have code that can send 'normal' key presses over HID to the PC?

Hi,

No I don't have any code yet.

I just wondered if it is easy to implement on my microcontroller board. I looked into the diffrent HID spec for the feasibility of this.

The question is : which class shall I use to send a power button event. And I' a bit confused with the norm.

Do you have any example code in TI or can you somehow show me the direction where I have to dig..?

The USB Developers package has an HID example for a device that pretends to be a keyboard (H8).

For how to change it to generate a power button event, see the HID specification.
