High Impedance IO

I want to be able to switch my IO in output mode, from outputting 0 to High Impedance. When I look at the specs, I can't find any detail on how to set an output pin to high impedance. Could you give me the details?

It is just switching between output and input by writing

PxDIR |= BITx; // Output - voltage level set by PxOUT

PxDIR &= ~BITx; // Input - high impedance

And using PxDIR is the only method to get a high-impedance pin.

If the pin is not in GPIO mode but connected to some module, you cannot get an open-drain output (the only exception is I²C).
