Three Output Smart Power Strip Reference Design query regarding change line(LIVE and NEUTRAL)

hello,

We use below link EVM reference design and make ac power consumption circuit for two AC power socket. It circuit is well working but one query is when we swap neutral and LIVE line our circuit is blast(micro controller and AC sense circuit). please suggest solution when we swap line(neutral and live) but our circuit could safe.

The only reason I can think of for sustaining damage when the power connections are reversed is that the application circuit lacks proper isolation for some external connection. Where proper isolation is provided by opto-couplers, digital isolators or a radio link we see no problems when the power connections are reversed.
