UART-BSL Programming Tool for MSP432 Controller

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET

Hello,

we will migrate from MSP430 to MSP432 Controller. For programming we use an own USB to Serial Adapter  with  FTDI Chip. It works with free Software tools like MspFet.

Is there a similar Software tool to program the MSP432 over UART BSL with our own USB to Serial Adapter?

I look for the MSP BSL Scripter, but in the description I read that he Need the "rocket" as programmer.

Thanks

Rene

  • Hello Rene,

You can use the BSL Scripter along with the MSP-FET. The MSP-FET supports BSL functionality. The BSL "Rocket" was originally made because the older MSP-FET430UIF did not support BSL.

More information can be found in the MSP Debugger's application note. http://www.ti.com/lit/slau647
  • Hello Jace,

that's not what I wont. I have to use our own USB-TO-UART BSL Hardware (FTDI Chip) for programming. We have some of them in the market for software update.

With the MspFet you missunderstood me. With MspFet I mean a free Software tool that we use to program our MSP430 MCU's. Here a picture:

This software use a simple uart interface to program the msp430 family.

Now I need something like this for the MSP432 family.

  • Hello Rene,

The tools you mentioned are third party tools that are not supported by TI , and thus I cannot comment on their viability or of their support for MSP432.

For BSL support, TI provides the BSL Scripter SW located on the page I linked to above.
