When will EXP-MSP432P401R LaunchPads ship with MSP432P401R REV C parts?

Hi,

I have been keeping an eye on what parts are available on the LaunchPad so have spaced out my purchases of the dev platform.  I recently (last few days) have purchased 2 more (needed them for what we are doing).

Just got them today and they still are shipping with XMS432P401R Rev C parts on them.

The prototype we will eventually be building will be built with parts purchased on reels off the regular production line.   I'd like to have at least one LaunchPad Dev Board that has production parts on it to remove one more variable.

Any idea when I can expect to be able to order a Launch Pad from TI that will have the MSP432 Rev C production part.

  • I got a Red Launchpad a few weeks ago, and the MCU is marked MSP432P401R Rev C. I'm pretty sure the Red ones have been shipping for some months now. Did you get it directly from TI?

My Black ones from last year are marked XMS432P401R Rev B.

I didn't know there was ever an XMS432P401R Rev C (in public, at least). Maybe someone else knows better?
  • Hi!
A few quick points, the "XMS" Rev.C units are fully functionally equivalent with the "MSP" Rev.C units.
So you should be able to develop on the XMS & move to the MSP with no code changes.
That being said, I can check to see what we are shipping currently.
    Please stay tuned.

cool.  thanks for the information.  I can use the two boards I received most recently.

However, I'd still like to get two boards that have the MSP Rev C parts.  I don't want to order via the TI channel because I don't know if I'll actually get the MSP Rev C part.

    thoughts?

    and thanks for your help.

If you now order the MSP-EXP432P401R LaunchPad you will receive Rev. C parts on the red board.

  • how do  you know that?

i ordered two about 2 weeks ago and got XMS parts

  • OK, sorry, I only read you want Rev. C parts, but you want non-XMS Rev. C parts.
  • Hi,
    Thanks for your patience.
I've verified that we are currently only shipping "XMS" Rev.C based launchpads.
"MSP" Rev.C will likely be much later in first half of 2017.

  • no worries

    that explains it

  • thanks very much for getting back to me.

If we order parts, MSP432P401RIZXH (BGA 80 pin), will we receive MSP432 Rev C production parts? One would assume but I want to verify.
  • Hi Eric,
MSP432P401RIPZ (100-pin package) are now available for production.
MSP432P401RIZXH (80-pin BGA) & MSP43P401RIRGC (64-pin QFN) are in the final phase of sampling (XMS), the production versions will be available in the next few weeks.
You can find out whether you're ordering XMS (pre-production) or MSP (production) material from the ordering table on this page:
    www.ti.com/product/MSP432P401R/samplebuy
